Everything about it is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot all the detailing and just their bodies and the glow of the lyrium and oh my god they are PERFECT.

part of a commission im working on for barbeauxbot. her oc laica hawke’s wedding dress.
now, white (well, cream - suits her peachy complexion better) isn’t quite period for medieval/renaissance wedding gowns. that said, white says ‘wedding’ to us, and keeping whites looking white was historically something you could only afford to do if you were wealthy.
(and it’s a fantasy setting anyways so whatever, anachronism.)
that said, i still wanted the power/drama/provocativeness afforded by red to feature prominently. laica’s left a lot of blood in her wake as she’s risen to power, and is powerfully sensual as well.
the gold, pearls, and gems (which im planning to add more of) are obvious signs of wealth, which are almost required given that she’s wedding the prince of starkhaven.
still contemplating what to do with her hair. probably something pulled out of the way, to leave space for earrings. more shinies.

So a while back, barbeauxbot, solitae, and I were talking about how Lilian and Kathil would totally try to set up Nelacar with a nice girl—if they could find anyone who met their ridiculously high standards.
And so, this little fic was born. I decided to save it as a Valentine’s day present for nightmaredifficulty. Because I’m like that.

Kathil stretched out on Laica’s bed, endeavoring to take up as much room on the silky coverlet as humanly possible. “You know what Nel needs?” she said, shifting to trail her fingers across Lilian’s shoulder and eyeing the baby toes that were peeping out from under the blanket Laica had over her infant son. “Someone in his waking world. Xan is lovely, but her Zev is coming home soon.”
Lilian grinned and hugged one of Laica’s very pink, very fluffy pillows. “He does!”
“Xan really isn’t as…devoted as Nel would prefer,” Laica said. She sat tailor-fashion at the head of the bed, William snoring peacefully on her lap. She combed her fingers through William’s butter-yellow curls, his hair springing back into shape.
